Reiki Frequently Asked Questions
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. (as defined by International Center for Reiki Training)
The true beauty of Reiki is that the practitioner is simply a guide to channel the Universal Life Energy to the recipient;
allowing the recipient's own mind, body and spirit to use where ever it is most needed.

Rei-ki, then, refers to Divine Life Force Energy. The Reiki Practitioner is a conduit for this energy, YOU are the healer. Reiki works on the Physical, Emotional & Spiritual Bodies, helping to re-establish your Energetic Balance. Reiki is Divinely Guided Energy and as a Divine Being, your Body knows where it is needed most.

What Reiki is NOT
Reiki is not affiliated with any religion, religious tenets or beliefs. There is no expectation nor requirement to believe any particular way. Reiki is intended to help you relax; the rest is up to You.
Reiki is not a Psychic Reading: It is not unusual for the client to see colors or feel a variety of sensations. It is also not unusual for the Practitioner to see & feel sensations as well. You and/or the practitioner may choose to share your experiences after the session, but the focus is on relaxation, not receiving messages or communicating with the spirit world.
Reiki is not a substitute for medical care. The Practitioner may identify areas of concern based on energy flow but may not diagnose conditions, prescribe or perform medical treatment, prescribe substances, nor interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional.
How do I prepare for a Reiki session?
Please wear comfortable clothing and anticipate uninterrupted time devoted to your physical and mental well-being and relaxation. Optimally, plan to allow quiet time after your session, 15 minutes or so, to integrate and enjoy the relaxation, calm and feelings of enhanced well-being.
If this cannot be accomplished easily at home, ask your Practitioner to schedule additional time to allow you to Bask.
What happens in a Reiki session?
You will be asked to remove your shoes, glasses and anything sharp from your pockets. Otherwise, the session is done fully clothed. Please remember to put your phone or other device on silent. This is YOUR time.
A Reiki session will include a light static touch in specific Reiki hand positions or the Practitioner’s hands may be a few inches above your body at the hand positions with no actual touch. There are standard hand placements, avoiding all sensitive body parts. Let your Practitioner know prior to the session which you prefer, light touch or no touch.
During a session, most clients feel a sense of relaxation and peace. The mind may feel calm and your physical body should feel relaxed. Reiki is so relaxing that sometimes clients may fall asleep during the session. Don’t worry though, you will still receive all of the benefits of the session, sleeping or awake.
What does Reiki feel like?
At the practitioner’s hand placements, you may feel a very slight tingling, heat, or energy, or nothing at all. The sensations or lack of are not a barometer of the Reiki, they are just how your particular body senses energy. You may feel a peace and calm in your mind or physically in general. It is different for all clients, but deep relaxation is almost always felt.

Twice each year (May & November) a Memorial is available to honor all that have passed. You may send requests to be included at any time. You may include as much or as little information as is comfortable. Often the person's name & dates are included but you may include photos, location (where theyre from, where they lived), stories, obituary, etc. Each business day during the Memorial, Reiki is sent to them & all that are connected with them (past & present)
This is usually a physical altar-style memorial but we are working on creating an online memorial as well that can be viewed throughout the year.
